The sky is falling, the sky is falling! And apparently, we’re under it.
You, alone, remain in an underground research bunker, the last hope of earth as the mothership begins its descent to complete the conquest of the earth, with the sky full of deadly dropships. Sounds like the pressure is on, as these aliens will take no prisoner and you’ll need to save the planet!
Well, that's Under Falling Skies, a game created by Tomáš Uhlíř, and published by Czech Games Edition. In it, you’ll be trying to shoot down those dropships to begin with, whilst trying to expand your base and research additional technology. Your actions are powered by a dice placement mechanic, whereby each action means you choose which enemy ship descends, so bigger numbers mean better effects, but also a faster descent of the ship. You’ll need to look to advance your goal whilst also manoeuvring dropships so that they can be destroyed by their descent (and your powerful weapons).
Every round the ships get closer and closer, making the game tense, where you’ll have to complete your mission as fast as you can before your base is destroyed, and the world overtaken by aliens!
In fact, this game has a great foundation, in that it’s based on a print and play game that won the 2019 9-card Nanogame P&P Design Contest, proving the concept and guaranteeing it to be enjoyable. Czech edition Games offered the game for free some time ago, which you can see on our print and play list, so you can always give it a try and see if it’s for you. This edition will come with new graphics, miniatures, replayable campaigns, diverse missions, and more, to expand the original game.
The physical game in question though, is for one player, for ages twelve and over, and will take between 20 and 40 minutes to play. The cost is €29.95, and it’ll be available during quarter three of 2020. There's no pre-order available just yet, but you can keep up to date with any new information as it comes on
