After painting Greek mythology and the Hundred Years’ War with a less-than-subtle brush in Mythic Battles: Pantheon and Time of Legends: Joan of Arc, Mythic is splattering its full-on style over World War II.

Reichbusters: Projekt Vril takes place towards the close of an alternate-history World War II in which the Nazi army has harnessed the mysterious power of Vril, allowing them to create futuristic weapons and creations.

Among these creations are reanimated zombies and towering mechs, both of which players’ co-op gang of elite Allied heroes will need to take down as part of a last-ditch mission to infiltrate the castle where the weapons are being produced, Wolfenstein-style.

The game takes place across various raids and scenarios depicting raids on Nazi labs and facilities, with mission objectives varying from assassinations and procurement of top-secret technology to capturing scientists. As players progress through the scenarios and venture deeper into the castle, the supernatural elements will grow in presence.

The Reichbusters and their foes will be represented by 32mm miniatures, with players able to customise their character’s loadout. Gameplay is said to involve hand management elements, and supports up to four players playing against the game-controlled enemies.

Mythic teased Reichbusters: Projekt Vril with a flashy trailer that nevertheless shows little of the actual game. With the game due to land on Kickstarter towards the end of the year, we’ll no doubt see more of what’s in store soon.
