Acclaimed creator will serve as director of game design for studio

CMON, stop it! After picking up tabletop experts in miniatures and multiple talented artists from around the industry in the space of a few short weeks, the publisher has now signed up lauded designer Eric Lang to bolster its ranks.

Lang is, of course, known for his acclaimed solo designs Blood Rage, Chaos in the Old World and XCOM: The Board Game, as well as his contribution to other beloved titles such as Arcadia Quest, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game and Marvel Dice Masters. He was recognised with the 2016 Diana Jones Award for Excellence in Gaming and has plenty of other accolades, including five Origins awards, under his belt.

That’s not to mention the man’s prolific output, which last year included Bloodborne: The Card Game, HMS Dolores and The Others: 7 Sins – to name but a handful – plus dozens of expansions with his name on.

Lang is no stranger to working with CMON, having previously published Blood Rage, Bloodborne and Arcadia Quest with the firm. The collaboration’s latest venture, Rising Sun, is currently sitting pretty at $2.2 million on Kickstarter.

Lang will take on the role of director of game design from April onwards, which will see him both continue to design games for CMON and help lead the rest of the development team.

“Having Eric as part of the team is huge,” said creative director David Preti. “Not only is he a friend, but I have worked with him, side-by-side, on projects like Rising Sun, Blood Rage and The Others and seen the craft and dedication he brings to his work.

“I know he will help take the company and its library of games to a new level, and I can’t wait for fans to see what’s coming up.”
