Now your Pokemon Can Evolve to VSTAR, with a New Mechanic Announced Images

In the first quarter of 2022, we're expecting Sword & Shield – Brilliant Stars to become available for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, but now we've also had the news confirmed that we'll be encountering VSTAR cards within it.

The Pokemon Company confirmed in its announcement the following: "Pokémon VSTAR evolve from Pokémon V and will play a major role in the Pokémon TCG metagame. Each Pokémon VSTAR has a VSTAR Power — an Ability or attack — with an extremely powerful effect that can decide the outcome of a battle. Players can use only one VSTAR Power per game, and those who use a VSTAR Power must flip over a VSTAR marker during the battle."

These cards will also have high HP and high damage attacks, with two prize cards being given when the card is knocked out.

VSTARs will be available in Charizard, Shaymin, Whimsicott and of course in Arceus – the Pokemon that titles the new Pokemon game being released last year. There will also be a special Trainer Gallery subset of 30 cards.

You'll be able to pick up these as booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes, and special collections, which will include 20 Pokemon V and 15 full art pokemon, four new VSTAR, three new Pokemon VMAX, 22 trainer cards and six full art supporter cards, and one new special energy cards.
