Free iOS and Android tool helps players get connected

A free mobile app is trying to make it easy for tabletop gamers to get together and play.

GameFor was created by six gamer-developers at studio Milk Can Dev & Design Studio, who’ve been working on the project for more than two years. Although the studio is based in the US, the app covers the entire world.

The premise is simple: gamers download the app, put in their location and are able to see local events, clubs and shops in their area. Over 6,000 stores are already listed in the app, plus plenty more clubs and groups.

The listings are handily categorised into board games, roleplaying, collectible card games and wargaming/miniatures, and users can favourite their preferred stores to keep a closer eye on them.

There’s also the ability to search by a specific game, so you can find a group that’s just into Magic: The Gathering or Android: Netrunner if you want to.

Events must be tied to stores for safety and privacy reasons, but the studio has said that it will look at ways of listing other types of events in the future.

The team has other updates planned, including the possible introduction of premium features that add extra tools such as the ability to RSVP to an event, but they’ve promised to keep the main search function free forever.

GameFor is free to download and available now on both iOS and Android.
