‘It has been a difficult decision, as many hours of work, effort and excitement were invested in this licence. But we consider that our business must follow another path.’

Knight Models has announced that it will stop its production of miniatures based on the Marvel Universe, as the publisher breaks ties with the comic book firm.

Knight has released various different lines of figures inspired by the Marvel roster of superheroes for its Universe Miniature Game over the last couple of years, including X-Men, Spider-Man, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Deadpool.

In a Facebook post announcing the end of the series, Knight admitted: “It has been a difficult decision, as many hours of work, effort and excitement were invested in this licence. But we consider that our business must follow another path.”

One point of contention may have been the publisher’s work with rival comic book firm DC on the DC Universe Miniature Game and Batman Miniature Game, which was bolstered with the addition of the Suicide Squad last year and celebrates its fifth anniversary in 2017.

Knight confirmed that it would continue to expand its DC range of miniatures in the future, saying: “These lines will continue to be developed, and we’re incredibly excited for the future of these lines, as well as forthcoming projects.”

Among this year’s releases will be the Arkham Knight campaign book, as well as some teased products to mark the anniversary.

Of course, Knight is busy working on another iconic series that DC movie-maker Warner Bros has also brought to the silver screen – Harry Potter.

The Harry Potter Miniature Game was first revealed late last year, and renders of the title’s Death Eater and Auror models, including Bellatrix Lestrange and Mad-Eye Moody, have been slowly teased since.

The game is due for release later this year, which marks the 20th anniversary of the first entry in J.K. Rowling’s series of books.
