Originally announced at last year’s Gen Con

Fantasy Flight’s companion app for Star Wars: Imperial Assault is still on the cards for a release later this year, the publisher has confirmed.

A mobile tie-in for the sci-fi hit was originally announced at last year’s Gen Con and was described as being similar in design to the Road to Legend app for Imperial Assault’s spiritual predecessor Descent: Journeys in the Dark, as well as the recent second edition of Mansions of Madness.

As in those games, the app will take over the role of the opposing player, automating control of the Empire’s forces while all of the humans work together to take it down.

After its initial reveal, the app vanished off the radar, leading to questions over its planned 2017 release date.

Fantasy Flight allayed such fears during a Q&A panel at this year’s Star Wars Celebration (via Reddit), assuring fans that the app is still being worked on – although few other solid details were mentioned.

The publisher also discussed its other tabletop titles set in the galaxy far, far away, revealing that Star Wars Rebels hero Sabine Wren would be the hero character appearing on the front of the third wave of Star Wars: Destiny releases.
