If you missed the chance to nab Ares Games’ special anniversary re-release of its War of the Ring Second Edition, we’ve got good news for you.

The publisher has decided to make the components for the Anniversary Release available separately from the 205 pre-painted miniatures found in the sold-out limited edition.

The new Deluxe Set will include the 56-page game rules, 104-page strategy guide and gameboard (comprised of two UV and hot foil printed 64x88cm boards). Both books will be hardbound, with the spine of each quarterbound in cloth paper. In short: they’re very fancy indeed.

To make it clear just how fancy they are, the set will come in a deluxe slipcase with a hot-foil imprint. Updated game summaries on textured heavy cardstock will complete the package.

The set will cost $79 in the EU – a massive markdown from the $440 price tag of the limited edition full set – and will reportedly only be available for those who pre-order through Ares’ site.

Where the Anniversary Release was limited to 2,000 copies, Ares has said that at least 500 copies of this condensed collection will be produced.

Both the original Anniversary Release and this Deluxe Set will be released in December of this year – in time for the game’s fifth anniversary and the 60th anniversary of The Return of the King’s first edition, which was published in 1956.
