Yzma and Ratigan also revealed for Evil Comes Prepared

The next three characters for Villainous, the asymmetric board game featuring a rogues’ gallery of Disney baddies, have been revealed in an early leak of the game’s upcoming second expansion.

Villainous’ first expansion – which can also be played as a standalone three-player game – Wicked to the Core is due for release in the UK on September 1st, and adds Snow White’s Evil Queen, The Princess and the Frog’s Dr. Facilier and Hercules’ Hades to the roster of classic Disney evil-doers. (You’ll find a full review of Wicked to the Core in the August issue of Tabletop Gaming magazine, out next Friday, July 26th.)

Publisher Ravensburger teased the game’s second expansion on Twitter last week, posting an image showing the original cast of villains and Wicked to the Core’s terrible trio, plus the silhouettes of three new player pieces on The Lion King’s Pride Rock.

Internet detectives in the post’s comments quickly began to guess at the possible characters based on their stylised pawns, with The Lion King’s evil uncle Scar, Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove and the Vincent Price-voiced Ratigan from eighties Sherlock Holmes homage The Great Mouse Detective all popping up as likely choices.

A few days later, those three characters were unwittingly confirmed by a product page for the expansion on US supermarket Target, which also revealed the new expansion’s title: Villainous: Evil Comes Prepared. (The page has since been pulled.)

A US release date of July 28th was also included on the page, which was backed up by a Disney Villains Instagram post announcing that a limited number of copies of the expansion would be available early at San Diego Comic Con later this week. The post also gave a first look at some of Yzma and Ratigan’s cards.

Ravensburger has teased more details for this Thursday, hopefully going into a little more depth about how each of the three characters plays and whether it will be another standalone game as well as an expansion for the core set.

A UK release date for Evil Comes Prepared is yet to be confirmed, but it’s likely to be after Wicked to the Core hits shelves in September.
