Warhammer 40K is finally getting the film and TV adaptation it deserves. Following the early support of Henry Cavill to suggest the audience awaited, Amazon has finalised a deal with Games Workshop to bring it to screen.
What is the Amazon/Warhammer 40K Deal?
Amazon and Warhammer 40K have reached an agreement that gives Amazon the rights to hire the talent and to make film and TV based on the Warhammer license. A year since we found out that talks were occurring, and an agreement in principle to work together had been signed, the full agreement has now been completed.
Warhammer Film or TV?
It's not yet decided what (or as a result, when) will show up on our streaming platforms, described in the Games Workshop statement as "the fun part", waiting for the first script to be written and into production, without knowing yet even if this will be as a TV show or feature film, an original story or one based on existing lore.
When will we see Warhammer 40K Film & TV?
Given the agreement has just been signed, it is unlikely to be imminent, with Games Workshop stating "TV and Film production is a mammoth undertaking. It’s not unusual for projects to take two to three years from this point before something arrives on screen. Still, things are now properly rolling".
Henry Caville 40K Champion?
Henry Caville is a core part of the announcement, which may come as some surprise. The former Witcher and Superman tossed his name into the ring back in 2021 to support a Warhammer 40k TV and Film conversion, after a number of interviews gave him the opportunity to talk about his love for the franchise. Not only did it bring a bigger discussion of Warhammer 40K to the general population, but it also likely started the discussion with Amazon in the first place. His name remains attached to the project, where the group of screenwriters tasked with bringing the game to life are being spearheaded by Caville as the Executive Producer.
