Tides of Time and Neuroshima Hex announced as first digital releases

Polish tabletop publisher Portal has announced plans to establish an in-house development team focused on creating digital versions of its board games.

The studio, which released Cry Havoc and a new version of Robinson Crusoe last year, and is set to launch Ignacy Trzewiczek’s First Martians: Adventures on the Red Planet this year, said that Portal Games Digital, as the studio appears to be called, would kick off its move into the virtual world with two releases during 2017.

The first of these is a digital version of 2015 civilisation-building card game Tides of Time, which will come complete with an online mode, asynchronous multiplayer, achievements and a single-player campaign.

Portal has also regained the digital rights to its sci-fi strategy hit Neuroshima Hex, after the 2006 title was originally ported to mobile by Big Daddys Creations. A revised version, developed by Portal, will introduce new armies and multiplayer support to the mobile edition.

Portal’s plans for digital titles beyond Tides of Time and Neuroshima Hex were left vague, with the publisher simply saying it would bring “your favourite Portal games” to iOS and Android.

Back on the tabletop, Portal is set to release the Aftermath expansion for Cry Havoc alongside First Martians in the second quarter of the year, followed by long-gestated card game Alien Artifacts and “another little surprise” during the following period.
