Stomp Stomp Chomp is a fast and frantic game that works well for kids and adults
Not every game needs to be Twilight Imperium (and thankfully, not every game is). Some games are built for casual play or family settings, designed to raise the excitement level in the room – or at the very least raise a smile. Stomp Stomp Chomp does both.
Players are on a mushroom hunt, flipping cards to find them. A fun chant of “Stomp stomp chomp” by everyone at the table and some raised thumbs decides who’s flipping. Flipped mushrooms go into the centre of the table – but beware those bears in the corner of some cards, as when three of them appear the flipper turns into a bear! They must race to grab a spoon that’s been placed a 10-second run away, so they can gorge on those revealed mushrooms. While they’re gone, the other players roll dice, stealing a mushroom card from the centre every time a die lands on a mushroom. The player with the most mushrooms wins.
It’s fast and fun, chaotic but easy to pick up. The mix of chanting and racing to grab spoons creates some silly, high-energy moments and Stomp Stomp Chomp often had our table laughing. Everyone feels involved, whether they’re flipping cards, rolling dice or being a bear. Quick rounds make it easy to play multiple games and player desire for “just one more go” was a strong endorsement.
