Novelist and game designer Timon Thöne touts soundtrack and potential Syncanite Foundation movie/TV series
Did you back the dark sci-fi board game Syncanite Foundation in 2024? Then you’ll be thrilled to hear that the expansion Crimson Protocol is funding now, with just a couple of days of the Syncanite Foundation Gamefound campaign left to go.
Didn’t back it? No problem, as the new Gamefound campaign is designed for both returning players and newcomers. Existing owners can pledge for Crimson Protocol on its own, while new backers can pick up the original base game (a revised second edition updated with all errata) and the Crimson Protocol expansion through dedicated pledge levels.

The revised edition also benefits from a range of upgraded production elements unlocked through stretch goals, including thicker components, double-layer player boards, linen-finish materials, upgraded wooden pieces and premium foil cards.
Created by Novelist and Game Designer Timon Thöne, CEO of Syncanite Games, Syncanite Foundation is a competitive strategy board game for two to four players. The game is set in a broken future where rival factions battle for political influence, resources and control.
The game combines area control, negotiation, asymmetric powers and card-driven gameplay, within a richly developed narrative universe that extends beyond the tabletop through novels, artwork and music.
Crimson Protocol expands the experience further with new gameplay content, additional strategic options and fresh ways to interact with the game’s political and economic systems.
There have also been some exciting meetings in Cannes recently which could even see a Syncanite Foundation movie or TV series hitting our screens – we’ll bring you more details of that as soon as we have it.
The crowdfunding campaign for the Syncanite Foundation board game and its first major expansion Crimson Protocol closes on Sunday.
