Chaosium's popular HeroQuest RPG titles have been confirmed to be removed from sale as of July 15th 2021.

"Last year we announced the transfer of the HeroQuest trademark from Moon Design Publications to Hasbro. As part of that change of ownership we were able to continue selling our HeroQuest RPG products for a time, but that period comes to an end next month. These titles will be officially out-of-print permanently, so if you would like to make a purchase at Chaosium.com or DriveThruRPG please do so while you can!", said Chaosium head of licensing Michael O'Brien.

"In due course, we will be rebadging and rereleasing our HeroQuest RPG line of products as Questworlds. The rules themselves will remain unchanged", said Michael O'Brien.

The trademark has changed hands previously – originally the board game was published by Milton Bradley and Games Workshop, but with the trademark having lapsed, Greg Stafford registered for it for the HeroQuest Tabletop Roleplaying game. Moon Design Publications subsequently published the game and later became the holder of the HeroQuest trademark. In 2015, Moon Design Publications became part of Chaosium Inc, before being transferred in July 2020 to Hasbro.

As above, that means you've got a limited time to pick up the game before it's removed from sale, though of course Questwolrlds – a prep-lite RPG system facilitating beginning play easily and resolving conflicts in play quickly, will receive the rebadge. Questworlds " features an abstract, conflict-based, resolution method and scalable, customizable, character descriptions. Designed to emulate the way characters in fiction face and overcome challenges, it is suitable for a wide variety of genres and play styles.".

If you prefer your HeroQuest RPG as the HeroQuest RPG though, head to Chaosium to pick up your copy before it's gone.
