The 26.2 tabletop game is for those who already got the running bug – or are never going to run a marathon, but fancy the challenge in tabletop form
We first saw 26.2, the game of training for a marathon before taking part in a race, at Toy Fair back in January 2026. As a game, it feels like quite a departure from the publisher’s previous release, Strong Point. That game was released in 2021 and is a trivia title where you guess how many questions your friends or family will get right on a given topic. Strong Point is good fun so we’re excited to see what the team can achieve with a totally different concept.
Strong Point Games is Gillian Hauxwell and Simon Evans, who created their first game during the 2020 lockdown and are now working on turning a passion of theirs into a board game. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, a marathon is 26.2 miles long because of a route change made for the 1908 London Olympics. Apparently, Gill has completed the Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star Journey, so is perfectly positioned to create an immersive marathon-themed experience and bring that passion to life.
Simon has been a spectator, racing around cities hoping to catch sight of Gill as she passes certain stages. While it’s not in our chat below, Simon later revealed that this aspect may make it into the game, as a player tries to navigate their journey on the game board to watch the runner.
We can’t wait to see what this game of training and then racing can bring to the table, as the theming in 26.2 feels very strong.
