Summer might almost be over, but there are plenty of exciting games for you to crack open on your table this autumn – and you'll find them all inside the latest issue of Tabletop Gaming magazine!

Tabletop Gaming September is out today, August 31st, and is crammed with the hottest games you’ll want to be playing during the colder months of the year.

On the front, we’ve got the iconic X-Wing Miniatures Game, which is zooming back into a galaxy near you later this month with its brand new second edition, full of changes big and small set to make the Star Wars smash hit the best it’s ever been. Read our exclusive interview with its designers inside.

Also on the cover you’ll find a free promo card for 7 Wonders, one of six different cards to collect for the civ-building card game that work with the base game and its expansions. Grab your card and find out the full details of how to use it in the issue.

That’s not the only amazing goody we’ve got for you this issue. As part of a look at how you can learn to make print-and-play games at home with little more than a printer and some paper, we’ve got a brand new and exclusive edition of Fightopia, the print-and-play game from James Ernest and Mike Selinker. You’ll find the rules and pieces you need to play inside the mag, or follow the link inside to download the PDF for free and print it at home.

We’ve got a huge look at what’s happening on September 29th and 30th at our Tabletop Gaming Live convention in London with a bumper-sized preview of the show. From the hottest releases and announcements of Gen Con – including the brand new game from Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield, KeyForge, and the UK launch of Pandemic designer Matt Leacock’s Forbidden Sky – that you’ll be able to play on the show floor to the tournaments, seminars, workshops and more happening throughout the weekend, you won’t want to miss London’s new home of gaming.

Find tickets for Tabletop Gaming Live on The Ticket Factory here – prices start from just £10, with kids under 10 attending for free.

Elsewhere in the mag, we speak to Michael Fox about tackling serious subjects in Holding On: The Troubled Life of Billy Kerr, a board game like no other that tells a story you’ll never forget.

We also hear from roleplaying designer Avery Alder about her supernatural teen drama RPG Monsterhearts in the latest How We Made feature, hearing how playing as fictional monsters allowed players to tell and experience important real-life stories.

As usual, our Played section is stacked high with the games you should (and shouldn’t be playing) this month. Here’s just a small taster of what’s in store:

  • Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team
  • Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game
  • Sailing Toward Osiris
  • Welcome To…
  • Heroes of Land, Air & Sea

  • Star Wars: The RPG – 30th Anniversary Edition
