Each book includes five exclusive cards for Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Fantasy Flight’s Arkham Horror Files universe is one of the grander series on the tabletop, with its run of Lovecraft-inspired games starring a recurring cast of steely investigators that face off against the connected roster of horrors from the classic author’s own Mythos.

Now, the heroes from Arkham Horror, Eldritch Horror, Mansions of Madness and more will return to the world of literature with an upcoming run of novellas digging into their origin stories.

The series kicks off with Hour of the Huntress, following dilettante Jenny Barnes as she heads to the iconic Lovecraftian setting of Arkham in search of her missing sister, Izzie, and no doubt uncovers something unexpected and disturbing.

The book’s been penned by RPG designer and author Dave Gross and comes as a 109-page hardback volume with a full-colour insert consisting of extra notes, newspaper clippings, letters and other thematic bits that add to the tone.

Each of the Arkham Horror novellas come with five exclusive cards for Arkham Horror: The Card Game, with one rules card, one alternate art variant of the featured investigator’s character card and its accompanying mini-card, and two brand new signature cards, which can replace the character’s normal signatures.

Hour of the Huntress is out now. It’s $15 (£11) on FFG’s store, but should be headed over to the UK soon.

There’s no details on which investigator the next novella will feature, but with dozens of characters from over the years, there’s no shortage of material.
