“By the Power of Grayskull, I have the power!”

CMON has announced an addition to the Masters of Universe world, with a licensing agreement with Mattel to create and publish Masters of the Universe: The Board Game in North America, South America and throughout Asia.

The new game comes from Michael Shinall and Leo Almedia, who have a history of games like Bloodborne: The Board Game, and A Song of Ice and Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game. There’s a new game system in development for it from the pair, which will take advantage of the vast universe and favourite characters.

Within the game, you’ll receive highly detailed miniatures of these characters, great for casual players, fans of the Masters of Universe, and collectors alike.

Talking about its creation, Michael said, “Masters was a part of most of our childhoods. People of a certain age know all about it. Simply saying, ‘I have the Power’ is automatically said in one’s mind a certain way because of it. Now, this game will bring an entirely new generation to Eternia and its many characters. Parents will be able to pass down their love for He-Man to their children, and that’s amazing.”

The game is in partnership with Mattel, to bring back the most famous contribution to pop-culture, and it’s certainly caused an excited stir. Janet Hsu, Chief Franchise Officer at Mattel said, “This new game system will be sure to introduce fans to the most iconic characters through a fresh interpretation of Eternia as it has never been seen before.”

The game will launch on Kickstarter in 2021, though no further specifics have been provided just yet, with CMON advising to stay tuned for updates. There’s no word currently either as to its potential availability within the UK. However, given the nostalgia and love for the Masters of the Universe in general, we expect this to be a popular game, and CMON are in a great position to bring it to life.
