Conan outlet Monolith becomes sole publisher for monster-battling epic

The two studios behind multi-million Kickstarter hit Mythic Battles: Pantheon have gone their separate ways.

The god and monster-battling epic made more than $2.6 million on the crowdfunding platform in late 2016, after debuting as the a collaboration between Conan outlet Monolith and Mythic Games, which went on to raise a further $2 million with its solo venture Time of Legends: Joan of Arc last year.

In an update posted to the Mythic Battles Kickstarter page, the studios confirmed the split and revealed that Monolith would take over as the sole publisher for the Mythic Battles series, with an aim to “expand the game and its community as we did for Conan”, starting with a new run of scenarios and articles in future compendiums for the game.

Monolith also revealed that it would launch a Kickstarter to fund a reprint of Mythic Battles: Pantheon this spring, followed by a crowdfunding campaign for Norse-inspired sequel Mythic Battles: Ragnarök sometime in 2019.

In a separate response, Mythic offered reassurance that the studio is “very healthy” and that the separation wouldn’t impact the release of Joan of Arc or the remaining copies of Pantheon due to arrive with backers.

“The short answer is that it makes very little difference to JoA, and what changes it does make are all good for the project,” wrote Mythic’s Léonidas Vesperini.

“What difference it makes for the future of Mythic Battles: Pantheon backers is up to Monolith as that game is now theirs to develop as they see fit.”
