You’re going to take out the Demogorgon with a slingshot?

Oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god: a new Dungeons & Dragons starter set is bringing the campaign from Netflix show Stranger Things to the tabletop for real.

Like the series’ retro eighties feel, the Stranger Things Dungeons & Dragons starter set is seeped in nostalgia. The box itself is modelled on the RPG’s iconic ‘Red Box’ released in the early 1980s, and comes with the impression of hours of love in the form of readymade scuffs, creases and tears.

Not everything about the set harkens back to the past, mind. The introductory rules booklet inside is for Dungeons & Dragons’ most recent Fifth Edition, meaning you should be able to jump in relatively easily if you’re a newcomer to the game. There are also six dice and the character sheets you need to get started, each inspired by a character from the show.

The adventure book in the box includes a full version of the Hunt for the Thessalhydra adventure played by the heroes of Stranger Things onscreen during the show’s first season. It took Mike two weeks to plan, dontcha know – although whether it will take your group ten hours to complete is unclear.

The cherry on top of the D&D Stranger Things starter set are two exclusive miniatures of the Demogorgon, the Big Bad from the show. One of the models comes pre-painted, while the other is blank to allow you to practise your brush skills.

The Stranger Things Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set will cost $25 (£20) when it’s released in May, making it a tad more expensive than the regular starter box, which can be found for under £15 – although the normal set doesn’t come with any miniatures.

With Stranger Things’ third season due to premiere over the summer, that gives you plenty of time to binge-watch the first two seasons and play along if you need some pointers on taking out the Demogorgon with a slingshot:
