Was it Mothra in the library with a candlestick?
Toho International, the guardians of the Godzilla franchise, have inked a brand-new deal with The OP Games to bring the Kaiju legend from the big-screen to board games worldwide!
Godzilla: Clue isn’t the first time the radioactive kaiju has transformed into a tabletop icon. Those wishing to play a Godzilla board game already have the likes of Godzilla: Tokyo Clash, Battle Monsters: Godzilla x Kong, a Magic The Gathering crossover and even Godzilla Monopoly – all available to purchase or pre-order. It’s worth noting that the Monopoly game was also developed by The OP Games in a similar partnership.

Formerly known as USAopoly, The OP Games is a Californian developer and manufacturer of major puzzles and board games. Its expansive library includes variations on Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit and Guess Who?, with the company often collaborating with major intellectual properties. The OP Games have also worked on prior editions of Clue or Cluedo in the UK, including: Clue: Muppets, Clue: One Piece, Clue: Grinch and Clue: Wednesday.
Toho International, meanwhile, is more associated with animated properties such as Bee and PuppyCat or Catbug, but is still primarily known for its work with Godzilla, including movies such as Godzilla Vs. Kong and Godzilla Minus One.

In this particular installment of Clue, The OP Games and the official Godzilla website have confirmed that “Minilla is missing, and treacherous forces are behind the abduction. If Minilla is not found and rescued soon, Godzilla will wreak havoc on a global scale. It’s up to you to solve the mystery: WHO is the Kaiju holding Minilla hostage – could it be Rodan or Gigan? WHAT group orchestrated the kidnapping – perhaps the Xiliens or the Kilaaks? And WHERE is Minilla being held – are they on Monster Island, in Seatopia or somewhere else entirely? The clock is ticking, act fast and solve the mystery before the “King of the Monsters” turns matters into global destruction!”
The classic rules of Clue obviously get a makeover here, but fans of the original format will find familiar mechanics. The title is aimed at ages 8+ and is suitable for 2-6 players. Each edition includes a retro custom game board complete with classic Godzilla imagery, six analyst movers, six analyst personality cards, 21 inquiry cards, six Kaiju movers, 25 action cards, one pad of custom clue sheets, six custom tokens and two dice. The cards and accessories have been gorgeously detailed with artwork that pays homage to Godzilla’s rich heritage, with characters like Mechagodzilla taking a starring role.

Players will soon be able to immerse themselves in this kingdom of monsters and pre-orders for the Godzilla-inspired game are already available. The game will be on sale from September 25, 2025 and is set to retail at $44.99 (no official UK pricing yet). Not only will the game be available from The OP Games and Godzilla stores, but it will also start to surface in tabletop retailers worldwide.
