Fantasy Flight give us paws for thought with LCG standalone adventure

Fans of taking a joke too far are in for a treat today as Fantasy Flight announce the upcoming release of what was once merely an April Fools joke.

Barkham Horror was mocked up by the company as an April fool joke and now is totally, 100%, real. The game is a complete standalone scenario for Arkham Horror: The Card Game.

Barkham Horror lets you be a very good doggo

This standalone adventure is set in an alternative universe in which the eldritch horrors are represented by cats, and our heroes, dogs. As more of a dog person I believe this is obviously the correct way round and will be in no way contentious.

The 78-card pack offer a scenario where the dogged investigators are attempting to stop “Meowlathotep, the Prowling Chaos, Meowsenger of the Outer Feline Gods” from destroying Barkham.

Sadly, the game doesn’t somehow perfectly integrate with the main Arkham Horror: The Card Game. This is probably because of the ancient curse that all humanity has to live with, being unable to understand the language of animals. Even if the canine investigators have been extremely good boys for dispelling an ungodly evil, they’re probably better off investigating this one on their own terms.

We’re still waiting for The Call of Cathulu, of course, which is what Lovecraft would definitely have wanted. Read more about Barkham Horror: The Meddling of Meowlathotep on the Fantasy Flight post.
