Fast-paced title inspired by TMNT arcade video games

Publisher IDW is diving back into the sewers of New York City with another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles board game.

TMNT: Showdown is the standalone follow-up to Kevin Wilson’s TMNT: Shadows of the Past, which was Kickstarted and released last year.

Unlike Wilson’s miniatures-driven, scenario-based game, Showdown will be a fast-paced tile-laying design from Adrian Adamescu and Daryl Andrews.

Once again inspired by the TMNT comics, as well as the ‘80s and ‘90s TMNT arcade video games, Showdown sees the Turtles taking on Bebop and Rocksteady as opposed to Shadows of the Past’s battle against a player controlling Shredder.

It’ll play in under half an hour contrasted to Shadows of the Past’s hour-plus play time, and supports two to four players.

A release date and price are yet to be confirmed.
