Winning the Kennerspiel des Jahres (‘Expert Game of the Year’) once is impressive. Winning it twice in a lifetime is remarkable. Winning it twice in two years, though, takes something even more astounding.

That’s exactly what Alexander Pfister and Andreas Pelikan managed to do last year, however, as they collected the renowned German prize for their fantastic tile-laying hit Isle of Skye: From Chieftain to King after picking it up in 2015 for magical card game Broom Service.

Now, the designers will continue their conquest of the tabletop world by bringing Isle of Skype to digital in the form of a new app.

The Isle of Skype app is under development by Digidiced, the studio known for its virtual adaptations of other modern classics such as Agricola, Patchwork, Terra Mystica, Le Havre and Cottage Garden.

Platforms are yet to be confirmed, but Digidiced has traditionally brought its apps to PC, iOS and Android with cross-platform play.

The lack of details also means that there’s no word on whether the app will include this year’s expansion Journeyman, which introduced personal player boards that modified the way tiles are placed and sold.

Isle of Skype is due to debut in digital during the first few months of 2018.
