Arnie’s already on his way to the tabletop in a board game based on The Terminator, but now another classic action flick starring the muscled star is about to become a game.

Total Recall: The Official Tabletop Game is thankfully based on the 1990 original – itself inspired by Philip K. Dick’s short story We Can Remember It for You Wholesale – rather than the forgettable 2012 remake.

The gameplay follows the format previously used in social deduction game Good Cop Bad Cop, with designers Brian Henk and Clayton Skancke returning to retheme their 2014 title about uncovering hidden corruption in a police force.

Players start the game in a Rekall dream, each equipped with the Mossberg 500 Bullpup gun and a bar of Turbinium from the movie represented by plastic miniatures.

They’re assigned a secret role – working either for the federal colonies or the rebels as characters including Arnie’s Douglas Quaid – which dictates the leader of the opposite faction they’re attempting to eliminate in order to win: Kuato or Cohaagen.

Each turn, players can aim their gun at others to steal their Turbinium or give their Turbinium to someone they trust to draw a plot card.

As players are shot, they ‘wake up’ and become Rekall scientists, switching their objectives and actions, which presents a different way to win by collecting all of the Turbinium in the game.

There’ll be a Kickstarter for the game later this year, with an extra NSFW expansion on offer that adds extra plot cards and bloody wounded tokens – plus more swear words.
