Series uses mobile phones as controllers

While The Jackbox Party Pack is technically a video game, it’s just about as close as the TV screen gets to being a tabletop, offering a host of party games that focus on the interaction between players and employ the simple-yet-genius move of using mobile phones as controllers.

The series started back in 2014 with the first Party Pack, which itself was inspired by Fibbage, a virtual party game where players type in replies to questions and then try to get their friends to pick their response instead of the real answer.

An expanded version of Fibbage, XL, was included in Jackbox Party Pack 1, with a sequel arriving a year later in the imaginatively-titled Jackbox Party Pack 2, introducing the ability for audience members watching the game over the internet to vote on which fake answers they liked most for bonus points.

After skipping a collection, Fibbage 3 will be part of The Jackbox Party Pack 4, which has just been announced for release this autumn. New to this edition will be the chance for those in the audience to actually vote on decoy lies and try and guess the real answer.

Fibbage 3 will be one of the five new titles in the set: the other four weren’t detailed.

The Jackbox Party Pack 4 will be out this autumn on ‘major digital marketplaces’ – if past packs are anything to go by, you can probably expect it on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, as well as smaller boxes such as Apple TV, Android TV and Amazon Fire TV.
