Yu-Gi-Oh Creator Kazuki Takahashi Passes Away

The popular manga and TV show creator found dead off the coast of Japan

With great sadness we are sharing the news that creator of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga and anime series has been found dead off the coast of Japan.

 

Kazuki Takahashi, 60, was found floating while wearing snorkeling gear near the coast of Nago, Okinawa on Wednesday morning. The coast guard confirmed it was Takahashi on Thursday, as reported by the Japan Times. The full story of what happened to the writer is yet to emerge.

The sad news will rock the hobby world, which has been supporting the Yu-Gi-Oh! The Card Game for over 20 years. While the writer wasn’t directly involved in the card game, his characters have been brought to life on many duelling tabletops.

Kazuki Takahashi, whose serialised work spans 1996 through to 2004, was reportedly working on the original story for the upcoming Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions animated film, and working on a new anime series.
