Two New RPG Delays

A little longer to wait for Stargate RPG and Cyberpunk Red RPG

There’s been a real mixture of good and bad news recently, and the most recent of the latter is with word of delays to the industry. We knew with current circumstances that we should expect delays, and cancellations of events in some areas, but equally we’ve had some great print and play games and rulesets to current games for a solo mode that it’s felt a little offset. Today, however, we’ve noted two RPG’s scheduled for release have been pushed back.

The first is Cyberpunk Red, from R.Talsorian Games, who said “We’ll just come right out and say it. The TRPG industry got punched in the gut by the pandemic and there’s just no way we can release in June without compromising quality.” Though they say with current events that their “crystal ball is full of fog”, they’re hoping to release at the end of summer if possible.

The game was due as the latest edition of the roleplaying game Dark Future, with new mechanics and new lore. A Jumpstart Kit for this was originally created for GenCon 2019, which sold out and is currently available as a PDF, or shortly with new sets for stores.

The second of the delays is the Stargate RPG, which was due to be released at GenCon 2020. Whilst the event hasn’t been cancelled, the Kickstarter campaign for this has been pushed to Autumn 2020 as a result of the downturn of Kickstarter. The result of this is that the launch date will be 2021 instead of later this year.

The game itself will find you stationed on an undisclosed location under the control of Stargate Command, and you’ll begin training as a new recruit. You and your teammates will go on missions in the fight against the Goa’uld. The fifth edition of the game is running an open beta, so you can always check it out in advance if you’re disappointed by the delay.
