What are the highlights in this month's issue?
The November issue (415) of Miniature Wargames is available for pre-order today! Images

The lead story this month is a repurposed set of historical rules: In Portable Hammer, Arthur Harman steps – yet again – away from his usual stomping ground of historical gaming to try a conversion of Bob Cordery’s popular The Portable Wargame (and Developing the Portable Wargame) systems for use as a set of fantasy rules suitable for large, fast encounters in almost any scale for predominantly ‘low magic’ scenarios, like Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

In Rolica and The Peninsular War Columnist Conrad Kinch gives us a scenario for Command & Colours Napoleonics in his Send Three and Fourpence spot.

In The Silent City: The Armies of Rei Bouba, Chris Peers, author of Death in the Dark Continent, provides a unique army list for the system with hard to find period photographs and model painting by Kevin Dallimore for uniform details.

Reinventing an Old Friend sees Jon Sutherland offering a terrain placement system for his re-invented Ancients Hoplite rules in the third of a four part series.

Shows: the editor takes a camera along to Colours and Hereward.

Making scenery: the Wargames Widow makes river sections and the editor builds foam asteroids on the cheap...

But there’s more: in Why We Paint Figures – and as a counter point to a piece in issue 413 - Noel Williams says why he gets his brushes out; and in Nostalgia... ain’t what it used to be Andy Copestake offers up the tips he gleaned when bringing his love for a Retro Project to the table-top.

For reviews we have Fantasy Facts (with its sweep over non-historical gaming with releases from Modiphius, Osprey, Warlord, Crooked Dice, GZG, Hexy Shop and Brigade); Forward Observer with (mostly) historical wargaming reports on MiniFigs, Warlord, Osprey, Warbases and Adler. Finally we have Recce for a dozen book reviews. And the free (smaller but still perfectly formed) Club Directory!
