Spirit of Rebellion boosters add 160 cards from across the entire cinematic series

The next set of boosters for Star Wars: Destiny are arriving in the next few months, introducing some of the galaxy’s newest heroes – and one of its most infamous villains – to the collectible dice-rolling game.

Spirit of Rebellion is the second expansion for the game and brings with it 160 new cards, plus custom dice for major characters, supports and upgrades.

Some of the dice have been tweaked to focus on a single strategy – such as melee or ranged damage – rather than providing more generalised results.

Joining the forces of good is Rogue One: A Star Wars Story lead Jyn Erso and the Force-assisted blind warrior Chirrut Îmwe, as well as the evil Director Krennic and his Death Trooper guard.

On the Dark Side, Star Wars’ second most famous baddie, Emperor Palpatine, has finally arrived. As you might expect from the leader of the Sith, Palpatine has a lot of health (15, the most in the game to date) and can dish out a serious amount of ranged damage, as well as other damaging and debilitating effects – including dealing two damage every time one of his dice is resolved. If that wasn’t enough, his Force Lightning upgrade has one of the most powerful attacking dice in the game, with damage on five of its six sides. Ouch.

The Spirit of Rebellion packs will be out in the second quarter of this year.

If you're wondering whether to pick up the core Destiny set, we'll have a review of the game in the February issue of Tabletop Gaming.
