It is based on the fifth edition of the Vampire: The Masquerade tabletop rpg by Paradox Interactive and the "Chicago By Night" companion book developed by Onyx Path.

You choose one of the 7 Clan decks at the beginning of the game: Brujah, Gangrel, Malkavian, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere, and Ventrue. Each deck plays in a completely different way from all others, and contains effects and powers typical of the corresponding clan.

You will progressively build your hand over the course of the game. You start with 2 cards, but you acquire 1 new card at the beginning of each round, increasing the strategic options at your disposal over time. You choices will allow you to build your hand according to your strategy, or reacting to those of your opponents.

During the game, you will play your cards, one at a time, at one of the locations available. Each card has a power value, and a unique special effect. You can play cards either face up (to openly show your intentions) or face down (to hide your strategy and/or deceive your opponents with a clever bluff). You can also spend blood to increase your power during the upcoming conflict.

At the end of each round, you will have to resolve conflicts at all locations, one at a time. You can either stay to fight for the control of the location, or withdraw to fake out your opponents... or to escape from a situation that has become too dangerous!

When it’s time to fight, you will reveal your cards and apply their effects. The player with the highest power wins control of the Ally at that location, earning a new source of blood income, new skills to exploit, and precious Influence points.

But beware: the losing players may still be able to make your victory painful by dealing you damage and stealing blood. At any point during the game, if you run out of blood, you will go into a frenzy and be forced to feed upon one of your hard-earned allies!

And that's not all: if you happen to drain a vampire ally, you will commit Diablerie (the most heinous crime in the vampiric world), gaining power but losing influence for your crime!

At the end of the third round, the vampire with the most influence is the winner… and the new Prince of Chicago!

The Kickstarter campaign is live right now, and features exclusive contents, add-ons, and stretch goals. Each backer will receive a Kickstarter-exclusive metal ankh (the symbol of the Camarilla) to replace the standard, cardboard first player token included with the game.

Additionally, if you pledge during the first 72 hours of the campaign, you will also receive a free card sleeve pack including enough premium quality, 80 micron thick card sleeves, with semi-translucent art, to protect all the cards of the game, including any stretch goals that will be unlocked. The available add-ons also include plastic blood tokens and metal influence coins, silicone token holders, custom cloth bags, tabletop rpg dice, and more.

Finally, a new stretch goal will be unlocked each day through an unconventional “social game” with a branching narrative that will span over the whole duration of the Kickstarter campaign, called “The Hunt”. Backers will be asked to choose between two narrative options which will determine the stretch goal we will unlock the next day, and move forward the story according to your choices.
