Support for more RPGs, including Pathfinder, on the way ‘soon’

Roll20’s latest update has introduced a built-in character creation system to the online roleplaying game toolkit.

The ‘Charactermancer’ slots directly into the virtual tabletop app and is completely free for all users.

The step-by-step system takes players through the process of making a new character in a few minutes, before letting them import their alter-ego straight into a campaign.

For now, the Charactermancer only supports making characters for Dungeons & Dragons: Fifth Edition, but Roll20 has confirmed that official support for more games and systems is on the way ‘soon’, including compatibility with Pathfinder.

Other features are due to come to the app in the future, such as the opportunity for members of the community to customise and modify the Charactermancer for other unique systems.

The Charactermancer arrives as part of a larger update for Roll20, which also adds the ability to share compendiums and rulebooks between members of a game, plus a new dice-matching mechanic.

Roll20 has also released the much-requested Player’s Handbook for D&D, which supports the Charactermancer, allowing players to select classes, races and more from the expanded range of options in the book.
