Have a craving for dots?
We're at a time where we're seeing huge video game franchises being converted into board games, from The Last of Us, to God of War, to Dark Souls and more. And now, so it seems, it's the turn of Pac-man!
Yes, that little dot eating circle being hunted by ghosts is now to appear on tabletop, from the arcade to our game shelf in the form of a card game. The basics are very much the same - collect the dots and fruit, use the power ups to maximise your points, and avoid ghosts.
In gaming terms, that means you're going to do your best to get the most points before being knocked out by ghosts, which you'll gain by collecting fruit and dots. Add in a twist with some power up cards that have special rules - maybe you'll be told to change hands with another player! - and the three ghost cards and your out rule, and it promises to be a fast play game!
Not only that, but you'll also level up. Once you've mastered the first round of gaming, you'll be ready for Level 2, which increase the number of ghosts that you'll encounter, but also offers stronger power ups too. Plus, if you've got more than five players, you can combine decks to unlock a bonus level.
There are also potentially things to learn too - did you know the ghosts in Pac-man have names? You're going to be escaping Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde, the ghosts of the game, in order to accrue your points and win the game.
You can order your copy from Steamforged Games' website, or from your friendly local game store, for release on 13th November 2020, and at a price of £9.99.
