Chamber of Secrets’ basilisk and Philosopher’s Stone troll among monsters revealed

The first trailer for the Harry Potter Miniatures Adventure Game has given us a proper look at what to expect from the upcoming title – and it’s looking very good indeed.

After teasing individual models from the game, which was originally slated for a release in 2017, over the last year or so, the 42-second video packs in plenty of teasers to dig into.

There’s a look at loads of painted figures, from Harry, Ron and Hermione and Ginny, Luna and Cho Chang to Draco Malfoy, Crabb and Goyle, representing a few of the Hogwarts students in the roster.

We also get a look at a gang of Death Eaters, including a few masked villains alongside Lucius Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange and Peter Pettigrew/Wormtail.

On the good side, there’s some of the Order of the Phoenix – we spotted Mad Eye Moody, Snape, Tonks, Lupin and Sirius.

Most excitingly, there’s a couple of very brief shots of some of the bigger models making their way into the game. In one, Hermione is seen fighting the huge bathroom-invading troll from Philosopher’s Stone, while another shows Harry taking on Tom Riddle’s towering basilisk in the Chamber of Secrets.

The normal models are 35mm resin miniatures, which will be used with grid-based boards illustrated with some of the Harry Potter series’ best-known locations: Hogwarts, the Chamber of Secrets and the Forbidden Forest are all confirmed to make an appearance so far.

Gameplay involves players exploring the environments, completing quests and challenges to beat their opponent – this is a competitive battle, rather than a co-op title.

Players will be able to put together their own group of witches and wizards, who can then be outfitted with potions and artefacts alongside a list of spells, all of which appear to be recorded on cards paired with character cards.

The studio behind the game, Knight Models, has teased further details for later this month, as well as confirming that the Harry Potter Miniatures Adventure Game will be headed to Kickstarter on March 14th.
