Warm up your hadoken and get your bird kick spinning: legendary video game brawler Street Fighter is coming back to the tabletop next month.

Capcom’s arcade classic-turned-console favourite is returning to Jasco Games’ Universal Fighting System series more than a decade after a set was launched for the collectible card game system back in 2006. The last expansion for the original run of Street Fighter UFS packs was 2008’s Warrior's Dream.

It joins fellow fighters Darkstalkers, King of Fighters, Tekken and Soul Calibur, as well as Mega Man, in the line-up of video game sets for the cross-compatible card battler that can also be played on their own. Jasco recently announced that it would be reprinting some of its Mega Man and Darkstalkers cards as part of a new ‘platinum’ series of re-releases.

Street Fighter is designed to play like its onscreen counterpart, with players letting loose with low, mid and high attacks in strings of combos while attempting to time blocks. As in the video game, players can eventually let off powerful EX moves if they take enough damage.

Characters confirmed for the game include Sagat, Zangief, Akuma, Vega, Dhalsim, M. Bison, T. Hawk, Cammy, Ken, Sakura, Fei Long and Guile.

The first turbo box, which includes enough cards for two players to fight, will include Ryu and Chun-Li, plus two random ultra rare cards. There will also be the usual selection of random boosters.

The Street Fighter collectible card game for UFS will be out on May 26th.
