Didn't manage to tune into the simultaneous streams over the weekend? No need to miss out!

Ah, GenCon. The largest gathering of our fellow Tabletop-ers, and this year potentially even bigger, as it headed online and became accessible to us all. There was so much to offer, including playthroughs, seminars, announcements, gameplay options, and more. You may have spent the entire time glued to some of the fantastic streams that it offered, but in doing so you may have missed another stream on another channel at the same time...

There were too many announcements to count, but let's take a look at just a few new announcements or sneak extra peeks that came out of GenCon!

In no particular order...

Santorini: New York

Santorini, where you're told to build like a mortal, win like a god, will now receive a New York version of the popular game from Roxley and Spin Master Games. It's a standalone game from the initial, but remains beginner board game - but this time in true New York style you're trying to build the biggest and best skyscrapers. No definitive timeline for its release yet, but it looks like a lot of fun!

Fantasy Flight Games

Fantasy Flight Games actually announced a lot recently. There's a new set of expansions for Star Wars Armada - two for the separatist, and two for the galactic republic! Then you have four clone wars ere expansions for Star Wars Legion, a new dynasty pack for the Legend of the Five Rings LCG, plus a new sourcebook and adventure for Legend of the Five Rings RPG, and if that wasn't enough, there's also Dark Tidings, a new set of KeyForge Decks!

And after all that... there's still more:

Twilight Imperium Expansion: Prophecy of Kings

Twilight Imperium is one of those great and now classic games, and so it's exciting to see a brand new expansion from Fantasy Flight Games with Prophecy of Kings. In it, the galaxy has grown larger, there are now new unseen factions with differing strengths and weaknesses, plus forty new system and hyperlane tiles which add new planets and obstacles. You can play this with up to eight players, with tons more to discover. This can be pre-ordered, with release scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2020.

Marvel X-Men Mutant Insurrection

A fast-paced, cooperative, dice driven card game for one to six players, this game has been designed by Richard Launius and Brandon Perdue, where you'll travel across the world to recruit new mutants, protect others, and battle some of the iconic villains. You might play with familiar favourites such as Rogue, Wolverine, or Storm - plus Shadowcat, Magik, and Forge - against those such as Magneto, Dark Pheonix, or the Hellfire Club. You can pre-order this today!

Descent

This was nothing but a glimpse of a box, but an exciting one! A bit of a tease for Descent: Legends of the Dark. We may have known this was coming from an earlier leak this year, but just cropped up at the end of the stream to leave us hanging on for more!

Content continues after advertisements

Vindication: Odyssey

This was a video announcement to provide more content - going bigger and better (or deeper), for fans of Vindication. There are new World Box's-  including a neoprene mat, new promo pack with 15 new cards, plus a new game mechanic called forfeit. There's also an embroidered patch, and a vision emblem sticker, and a dual layered recessed game board named Odyssey, as an extra module.

Pandasaurus - Dinosaur Island Roar n' Write, and Dinosaur World

Pandasaurus came out with two new announcements to their current line up in a live stream (these announcements are at approx 31 minutes) starting Dinosaur Islands Roar n' Write. Full of quick and enjoyable choices, it's part of the Dinosaur range that already exists, fitting into a medium weight range. THEN, you have Dinosaur World. It's not quite a sequel (they said in the same way Jurassic Park and Jurassic World aren't exactly sequel!), but again falls into the existing dinosaur range and full of park choices, with dice being a huge part of your experience.

New edition of 7 Wonders

Next up, from Repos Productions is a new edition of a favourite game in 7 Wonders, the worlds most awarded game (I've not counted personally, but that's what it says!). The game has been very much made over, with an expected release date of September 2020. The original game came out in 2011, but there's some online discussion as to whether a reskin is needed - but we have to admit, it does look good!

Renegade Game Studios

Two new announcements for Renegade Game studios, the first being that of Embarcadero, which premiered at GenCon and will be available on Kickstarter in Fall 2020. Designed by Adam Buckingham and Ed Marriott, it's set in San Francisco in 1850 at the height of the Gold Rush. You'll build San Francisco on the hulls of abandoned and derelict ships to carve out a foothold and rule the waterfront.

And if that wasn't enough, there's also Vampire the Masquerade Rivals Expandable Card Game from this weekend, which will head to Kickstarter August 4th 2020. Two to four players will control a coterie of vampires and seek to dominate your rivals. The core set will include vampires from four clans, Brujah, Malkavian, Toreador and Ventrue

Tidal Blades RPG

In partnership with Monte Cook Games, and with the Cypher System, Tidal Blades (originally kickstartered board game) is getting a 400+ page core rulebook for the RPG, authored by Shana Germain, due out on Kickstarer in 2021.

Of course, there are always more! Which were your favourite announcements this year? Let us know over on twitter!
