The Wars to Come expands player count to seven and introduces 25 new ally cards

We really enjoyed our time with Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne, so it was a delight to see that the fantasy TV show-themed Cosmic Encounter spiritual spin-off has now had its first boxed expansion detailed.

The Wars to Come expands the title of diplomacy and deception to support seven players by introducing two new houses: the Greyjoys and Martells.

Among the five Greyjoy leaders are Theon, Yara and Balon, and the house is said to favour early aggression as a gameplay tactic.

Meanwhile, the Martells are backed by characters such as Oberyn Martell and Ellaria Sand. The house’s abilities apparently support more manipulative moves by players, with the opportunity to impede clean wins.

The Wars to Come also adds 25 new ally cards, featuring characters such as Jon Snow (Prepare for cries of ‘You know nothing’), Missandei, Syrio Forel and everybody’s favourite, Hodor.

The cards are optional in gameplay, but allow players to start with one of the various abilities and draw additional allies as an alternative reward for winning battles.

Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne: The Wars to Come is due for release in the second quarter of 2017
