Events and new set hitting digital version of card game later this month

One of Magic: The Gathering’s most popular tournament formats is coming to its digital app, Magic: The Gathering Arena.

Best-of-one Draft events will begin on May 4th, with regular Draft competitions held each weekend afterward.

These follow the introduction of best-of-one Constructed events from April 26th, which will then be always available from then on.

Also hitting the app on April 26th is the next set of Magic cards, Dominaria. Like the complete sets for Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation that made their way into Arena, Dominaria will include the full collection of cards from the physical set, which releases around the same time.

The update will also make improvements to the app’s visuals and add an extra battlefield for matches.

Wizards of the Coast has announced that it will begin testing redeemable codes for Arena in New Zealand, allowing players that pick up physical boosters or packs of Magic: The Gathering cards to unlock in-game items in the app. Although the system is only a test for now, the Magic studio said that it could bring the codes to other regions in the future.

Magic: The Gathering Arena remains in closed beta, but you can still sign up to get an early look at the app.
