Kickstarted adaptation of video game oddity coming to shops in January
The board game version of video game oddity Deadly Premonition is getting a deluxe edition release in shops early next year.
After Kickstarting its way to success earlier this year, the social deduction title based on the Twin Peaksian Japanese cult hit will arrive in shops on January 31st.
The box will come with a selection of extras, such as a soundtrack, play cloth and custom ‘murder die’, and will be priced accordingly at around $60 (£45). However, the set won’t include some of the Kickstarter-exclusive backer bonuses, such as a carry bag, mug and prints.
The board game follows the general premise of Deadly Premonition, as players hunt for the mysterious Raincoat Killer by interrogating characters and eliminating suspects by analysing the evidence available – while the secret murderer among them tries to wipe out witnesses to claim victory.
If you’re curious, a copy of the game’s director’s cut on PC is included with the board game, so you’ll be able to understand some of the in-jokes and endlessly quotable lines referenced.
Deadly Premonition: The Board Game takes about half an hour to 40 minutes to play with two to four people.
It sounds like the retail release might be limited to ‘selected retailers’ mentioned in publisher Rising Star Games’ announcement of the edition – we’ll hopefully learn more soon.
