Critical Role Meets Munchkin

Critters, assemble!

We've seen many a version of Munchkin over the years, and many a product of Critical Role, but now is the first opportunity for Munchkin: Critical Role!

Announced earlier this year, The Op confirmed the license of the two, with Munchkin co-branded Steve Jackson Games, and the needs-no-introduction (but we will anyway!) Critical Role, of D&D and acting fame. This will give us a new version of the Munchkin 172 card game.

We now have a glimpse of the front cover, with Fjord Stone, Yasha Nydoorin, Mollymauk Tealeaf, Caduceus Clay, Caleb Widogast, Beauregard Lionett, Jester Lavorre, and Nott the Brave, plus a tiny Frumpkin on the side. The artwork has been completed by character artist Elena Muñoz and artist Tyler Hostettler, who the Op reports created 160 original art pieces to bring Wildemount to life.

The characters cards are also double-sided featuring two portraits, which lets players change the mood as preferred.

Of the game play, the Op has said: "Once you’ve selected your favorite protagonist, grab your Goggles of Night VisionDagger of Denial, and Pocket Bacon, team up with your favorite Guest Star, and battle familiar foes such as GloomstalkersCaptain Avantika, and Obann. Use Drive and Role cards to power you through to victory!"

It also looks to have included some of the original humour of the show, which is a huge part of what people love about it, which in addition to the artwork should help to make the game an enjoyable way to extend excitement for both - plus, have fun at the same time!

It's going to be for 3-6 players, for ages 10 and over, with a US price of $24.99, so we'd anticipate a UK cost of between £20-£25. As for when, it's referred to February, so not long to wait either.
